Hey everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend…. we are going to end our fabulous weekend with a little football š
Since this was a BIG birthday for me {totally not addressing any age!! šµš»} my husband went BIG too! I am a lucky wifeee š Besides my new purse, we were able to spend a child free night away šš»
We arrived at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel late afternoon on Saturday. First impression…. beautiful!
I was even more impressed that they even added this! š„
We had some time before our 8pm dinner reservation (we are late eaters normally), so we headed for a walk down to the The Portsmouth Brewery and sat at the “Up bar”. They had about 12 in-house made beers on tap as well as some guest beers. I chose a hearty Octoberfest and the hubs settled on a dirty blonde ale. {he likes blondes š}
Afterwards, we wanted take a peek at the shops, so we walked the long way back to the hotel.
We returned to the hotel, got ready and with just a short walk away arrived at our dinner destination, Row 34.
The atmosphere was modern, classy and had today’s pop hits playing low in the background amongst the bustle of chatter. We were seated promptly on time and our server was attentive and knowledgeable, answering all our questions. As we looked over the menu, we buttered up some sweet rolls. The butter was a bit salty, which I didn’t mind. I settled on a glass of Sauvignon blanc, fish taco appetizer and a warm buttered lobster roll that came with a side of fries. My husband, clam chowder and the whole fish of the day. The food was delicious and left us full, but we somehow had room for the surprise birthday butterscotch cream pudding and cordial!! We contemplated hitting some nightlife but ended up walking back and settling in for the night.
Since we were scheduled to dog sit on Sunday,
{this is Dallas}
we wanted to get up and grab breakfast before hitting the road. It was quite chilly in NH this morning so a nice hot coffee {LOTS needed!!} and a cozy fleece were in order, except I forgot my uggs and sneakers at home…. so booties it was. We walked down to the original The Friendly Toast.
This is a fun, eclectic restaurant offering all day breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner. They also have a full bar offering all sorts of unique drinks! I chose the Gus scramble, which consisted of egg whites (an add on), avocado, black beans and salsa with a side of hash browned potatoes and I picked the cayenne cheddar bread (I ā¤ļø spicy!). The hubs designed his own omelet of egg whites, mushrooms, bacon, American cheese and sausage with the same hash browned potatoes and cinnamon raisin bread. OMG Yum!! Full is an understatement.
We ventured back to the hotel to checkout and head back to pick up the mini.
Best Birthday Ever!
So if you get the chance to head up to Portsmouth NH, most definitely recommend the Sheraton. There are so many restaurants and bars to choose from, it’s a great getaway spot!
Have a great football Sunday!
Loved reading this! You are a great writer! Sounds like a perfect weekend!
